 Mrs. Mira Das
Mrs. Mira Das, a 40 years old poor housewife, comes from chandpur. She is
suffering from carcinoma of right cheek. It was last year when she noticed
a swelling in the inner side of her right cheek. She did not take it
seriously because of illiteracy. But she rushed to local clinic when the
swelling increased in size in double later on ulcerated. Doctor reffered
her to Dhaka based on suspicion of cancer. It was confirmed when her biopsy
revealed. She was advised to give radiotherapy and weekly chemotherapy in
between the course of radiotherapy.
She comes from very low socio economic family condition. Her poor fisherman
husband is facing a big trouble regularly to bear daily expenses of his
family. So Mira’s relatives supported her to continue her treatment.
Moreover, Mosabbir Cancer Care Centre also helped her directly to some
extent by buying 2 courses of chemotherapy drugs. She would require more
help to continue rest of the course including investigation and additional
drugs of palliative treatment; it may exceed 2500 before each cycle. Hence
the total cost will be approximately 150,000 taka. We will rather leave to
people’s response to humanity in the way of coming out with open hands
for her help. |

Mrs.Sahera khatun
Mrs.Sahera khatun a 65 years old poor lady comes from Muktagacha,
Mymensingh.Since
January, 2010. She noticed redness of right eye with pain which was
gradually increased
day by day followed by swelling in lower part of her right eyelid.
For this, she also developed blurred vision, occasional watering from eye
and later on gradual dimness of vision due to increased size of the
swelling. Initially she was treated by a local doctor, but no improvement.
Then her family member took her to Mymensingh medical college. After
completion of relevant investigations, the tumor of right eye lid was
excised. When Histopathology was done, it was confirmed as a malignant
cancer (Adenosquamous carcinoma with metastasis) then she was given 3 cycle
chemotherapy & adviced for radiotherapy. After that she may require
chemotherapy & costly drugs in her rest life. From diagnosis till today, she
spent a lot of money even by selling her lands. She needs about 7-8 thousand
per month including cost of treatment. Her husband is also an ill bedridden
person. Her sons are day labourer. So, it is becoming, impossible to her
family to continue further treatment due to their severe financial
constrain. Mossabir cancer care center has been extending all possible help
to her but due to limited resources; centre is not in a position to provide
further required financial support. Our small wish to stand by this old
helpless lady can make her sorrow less for rest of her life. |
